Privacy Policy

Summary

CleanDeck performs analysis locally on your Mac. We don't collect your local files, we don't track your usage, and we don't sell your data. Optional Google Drive access is metadata-only, requires your explicit consent, and cannot modify your Drive files. The AI features run on-device.

Optional Google Drive Integration

Google Drive access is optional and begins only when you explicitly connect your Google account and approve the requested permission. CleanDeck requests the read-only Google Drive metadata scope (drive.metadata.readonly).

  • Data accessed: file and folder IDs, names, MIME types, parent relationships, sizes, modification times, checksums when Google provides them, web-view links, and storage quota information.
  • How it is used: CleanDeck processes this metadata locally to calculate storage usage, build a folder map, show large files, identify metadata-based duplicate signals, and open the corresponding Google Drive review page at your request.
  • What CleanDeck cannot do: it does not download Google Drive file contents and cannot create, edit, upload, share, move, or delete Google Drive files.
  • Storage and sharing: OAuth tokens are encrypted using macOS secure storage. Google Drive metadata and analysis results remain on your Mac; they are not sent to CleanDeck servers, sold, or shared with third parties.
  • Your control: you can disconnect Google Drive in CleanDeck and revoke access in your Google Account at any time.

CleanDeck's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Our Privacy Principle

CleanDeck is built on a fundamental principle: analysis and decisions stay on your Mac. We designed CleanDeck to perform scanning, analysis, and cleaning operations locally. Optional cloud integrations access only the data you explicitly authorize, process it locally, and never give CleanDeck permission to modify your remote files. We do not require a CleanDeck account to use the app, and we do not collect telemetry or usage data by default.

Data We Do NOT Collect

  • File names, file contents, or directory structures on your Mac
  • Screenshots, clipboard data, or keystroke information
  • Browsing history, search queries, or application usage
  • Personal documents, photos, messages, or emails
  • Passwords, credentials, SSH keys, or API tokens
  • Hardware identifiers or device fingerprints for tracking purposes

Data We May Collect

  • License key validation: When you activate CleanDeck, your license key is verified against our licensing server. No personal file data is transmitted during this process.
  • Crash reports (opt-in only): If you explicitly enable crash reporting, anonymized diagnostic data may be sent to help us improve stability. This never includes file names or contents.
  • Support correspondence: If you contact us via email, we retain your email address and message content solely to provide support.

Local AI Processing

CleanDeck Pro's AI analysis feature (Local AI Pack) runs entirely on your device using an on-device language model. No file evidence, scan results, or AI prompts are transmitted to external servers. The AI model is downloaded once during setup and operates offline thereafter.

Data Storage & Security

CleanDeck stores all scan results, action history, and configuration data locally on your Mac in the application's sandboxed container. This data is protected by macOS file system permissions and is never synced to cloud services unless you explicitly configure iCloud Drive integration for your own backup purposes.

Third-Party Services

CleanDeck does not integrate with advertising networks, social media trackers, or analytics platforms that collect personal data. Our website uses privacy-respecting, self-hosted analytics. Except for user-authorized cloud connections described below, we do not send your personal information to third parties. We do not sell or rent personal information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically for the latest information.
